A little periscope

I know that blogs are so 2005.  I'm just wondering: does anyone read them anymore?  I'm about to take a very long trip/adventure, and folks have expressed interest in following my movements by some means.  I'm not on any social media, but here I have this nearly-forgotten blog.  If I posted brief accounts of my travels and some photos, would anyone from the old crowd still be receiving? (Beyond, like, whomever among my acquaintance I direct to this site, I mean.)
