Portrait of Clara (as a chemist)

Meanwhile the mind, from pleasure less,
Withdraws into its happiness:
The mind, that ocean where each kind
Does straight its own resemblance find;
Yet it creates, transcending these,
Far other worlds, and other seas;
Annihilating all that's made
To a green thought in a green shade.

Damn! so cute.
Happy 39!
And many happy returns. (Please tell me mini-you was actually driving that bike?)
Happy birthday!
(And though I didn't have the socks, I'm pretty sure I had exactly the shirt/shorts combo your younger sib is wearing. No motorbike, though.)
Yes, F and M--my motorcycle, from age 8 through my growing into the bigger one at around 13. My little sis--who is, I believe, Flavia's age--should obviously NOT be wearing flip-flops (or as we innocently called them back then, "thongs"), but I can only see that with maternal hindsight. I can only suppose that I felt my socks would protect us both.
Happiest Birthday to you!
And you are rockin' those socks.
The socks are great, but I'm equally interested in your motorcycle. What sort of riding did you do, and when you got a bigger bike, what kind was it? I spent half my teenage years on a Honda CR125, so I'm wondering . . .
dkm: Honda Trail 90, baby. The coolest bike ever built. Guess what I'm going to try to buy with my next "fellowship"...
The Honda 90. My goodness :) We had three hills near our home, called the roller-coaster hills. The ultimate test was to hit the first hill going about 50, fly over the second, and land coming down the back side of the third. I only ever tried it once, and that was on my brother's Honda 90. My theory was that given its moped type frame (no gas can up front, right?), a crash wouldn't, well, . . . you know. Result: one bad crash, one trashed 90, and one theory proven true.
I think your "fellowship" plan is grand!
The good old days... Where is my chicken wing?
Happy Birthday!
