Tourist Day 1 Recap
1 week ago
Meanwhile the mind, from pleasure less,
Withdraws into its happiness:
The mind, that ocean where each kind
Does straight its own resemblance find;
Yet it creates, transcending these,
Far other worlds, and other seas;
Annihilating all that's made
To a green thought in a green shade.
Andrew Marvell, "The Garden" 41-48

I had not. I confess to skepticism, but that won't delay my speculation about casting.
I can't wait to see it come out, actually. Though, when it they'll have to be pretty liberal with what to include, otherwise I won't be able to watch it. Too naked, mostly.
It can't be anything but horrible in adaptation. I mean, Beowulf was horrible and the language there isn't close to nearly as powerful as Milton's. So I can't wait to see Paradise Lost directed by a blockbuster action movie guy for the sheer awfulness of it.
Maybe next they could do a film version of Ezekiel.
A million students just sighed with relief, thinking, "Awesome. Now I never have to read it!" haha.
"will be crafted as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D"
OMG. Milton may be turning over in his grave right now...
I, um, actually think this might be kind of cool? But only if animated, and only if it's done by someone both really skilled and respectful of the source text.
I used to amuse myself in grad school by making mental lists of all the Renaissance texts that would totally lend themselves to an animated film version by someone artistically talented and totally freaking insane. (Sadly, I have only the latter qualification.) Anyway, Paradise Lost was about third on the list, behind Orlando Furioso and The Faerie Queene.
