Portrait of Clara (as a chemist)

Meanwhile the mind, from pleasure less,
Withdraws into its happiness:
The mind, that ocean where each kind
Does straight its own resemblance find;
Yet it creates, transcending these,
Far other worlds, and other seas;
Annihilating all that's made
To a green thought in a green shade.
Andrew Marvell, "The Garden" 41-48

Ha. I have been awake two nights running--we should have kept each other company last night.
When in doubt, I blame wine and/or the phase of the moon. Or just general anxiety.
From one insomniac to another: have a wonderful, productive, joyous new year.
